- Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any extra grease.
- Add chopped onions and garlic to the beef and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until soft and fragrant.
- Stir in tomato sauce, chili powder, and paprika. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- In your baking dish, layer half the sliced potatoes, then half the beef mixture, then half the cheese.
- Repeat the layers and finish with a sprinkle of cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, then uncover and bake another 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. This helps the layers set perfectly.
Notes
Swap in ground turkey for a leaner version or add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra color and texture. For more heat, increase the cayenne or add firecracker seasoning.
