Ingredients

Cheese Mixture
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp chives finely chopped
Decorations
  • pretzel twists halved for antlers
  • mini pretzel sticks optional for serving
  • mini chocolate chips or chopped olives for eyes
  • cherry tomatoes or red pepper bits for noses

Method

  1. In a large bowl, mix softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, and chopped chives until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a tablespoon each. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let them firm up. This makes decorating much easier.
  4. Break pretzel twists in half and gently press two pieces into the top of each cheese ball to form antlers.
  5. Press two mini chocolate chips (or olive bits) for eyes and a small piece of cherry tomato or red pepper for the nose.
  6. Chill until ready to serve. Place them on a festive platter surrounded by crackers or fresh veggies for a colorful display.

Notes

  • You can prepare the cheese balls up to 2 days ahead and decorate them right before serving to keep everything fresh and crisp.
  • For a twist, try adding crumbled beef bacon or using different cheeses like Monterey Jack.
