Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 12-15 Oreo cookies crushed into fine crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar

Method

  1. Crush the Oreos in a food processor or sealed bag until fine crumbs form.
  2. Mix crushed Oreos with softened butter to form a thick, spreadable paste.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Lay out thawed puff pastry on a clean surface, pressing gently to flatten.
  5. Spread the Oreo mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a half-inch border on all sides.
  6. Starting from one long edge, roll the pastry tightly into a log, pressing gently.
  7. Slice the log into 1-inch pieces and place cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Brush each swirl with egg wash and sprinkle coarse sugar on top.
  9. Bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes until puffed and deep golden brown.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a plate or wire rack.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature, best within 2 hours.

Notes

  • Keep pastry cold; refrigerate filled log 10 minutes before slicing if kitchen is warm.
  • Swap butter for 2 tablespoons cream cheese for a tangier, less sweet filling.
  • Drizzle with glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar + 2 tablespoons milk.
  • Freeze unbaked swirls up to 1 month; bake from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes.
  • Reheat leftovers in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes to restore crispness.
