Ingredients
  

Casserole
  • 500 g Italian sausage
  • 2 cups pasta cooked
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
Garlic Bread Topping
  • 4 slices bread
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
Gremolata
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces until browned.
  3. Add marinara sauce to the sausage and simmer for a few minutes.
  4. Stir in cooked pasta until well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Mix melted butter and garlic, then spread over bread slices.
  8. Place the bread slices on top of the casserole.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden.
  10. Mix parsley and lemon zest, then sprinkle over the casserole before serving.

Notes

You can substitute smoked sausage or add vegetables like spinach or zucchini. Assemble ahead of time for easy baking later. Leftovers store well and taste even better the next day.
