Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound flank steak thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 cup low sodium beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons water for cornstarch mix
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

  1. Season the sliced steak with salt and pepper, then set it aside while you prepare the vegetables.
  2. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the steak and cook until browned. Remove from pan.
  3. Add remaining oil to the pan. Cook the onion until soft, then add garlic and ginger. Stir until fragrant.
  4. Add broccoli florets and stir for 2 minutes until bright green.
  5. Pour in beef broth, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in cornstarch slurry and honey. Simmer until sauce thickens.
  7. Add beef back into the pan. Stir and cook for 2 more minutes until evenly coated.
  8. Turn off heat. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed. Serve hot.

Notes

To keep beef tender, slice it thin and avoid overcooking. Let broccoli come to room temp before cooking. Always mix cornstarch with water to avoid lumps.
