  • 2 cups sauerkraut drained
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 4 potatoes medium, peeled and cubed
  • 1 onion large, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds optional

Equipment

  • Large Skillet or Pan

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add bratwurst and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

  4. Stir in sauerkraut and beef broth. Mix well and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add cubed potatoes. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  6. Return bratwurst to the pan. Cover and cook for another 10 minutes to blend flavors.
  7. Season with salt, pepper, and optional caraway seeds. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a chopped apple or a spoon of mustard to the broth. This dish tastes even better after resting as flavors deepen.
