Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 500 g boneless beef thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp oil for frying
Sauce
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger grated
  • 3 green onions sliced

Equipment

  • Large Pan or Wok

Method

  1. Slice the beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  2. Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the beef in a single layer for 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Work in batches if needed.
  5. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, sauté garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Add soy sauce and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the sauce begins to bubble.
  8. Return the beef to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce.
  9. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  10. Garnish with green onions and serve warm.

Notes

Cook the beef in batches for extra crispiness. You can add vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for a more complete meal. Adjust sugar levels to control sweetness.
