Method
- In a large bowl combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into small meatballs about the size of a walnut and place them on a plate.
- Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
- Remove the browned meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet add honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and garlic. Stir and heat until the sauce begins to gently bubble.
- In a small bowl mix the cornstarch and water. Pour it into the skillet and stir until the sauce becomes thick and glossy.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and gently toss them in the honey garlic sauce until fully coated.
- Let the meatballs simmer for several minutes so the sauce becomes sticky and flavorful.
- Spoon warm cooked rice into bowls and top with the honey garlic meatballs.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version. Add chili flakes or grated ginger to the sauce for extra flavor. Serve with steamed vegetables like broccoli or snap peas for a balanced meal.
