  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 6 flour tortillas cut or torn into pieces
  • 2 cups shredded cheese cheddar, Monterey Jack or Mexican blend

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Warm a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic, and taco seasoning. Cook for 2 more minutes until fragrant.
  4. Pour in tomato sauce and stir to coat beef evenly. Let it simmer for 3 minutes.
  5. Layer half the tortillas on top of the beef, then sprinkle with half the cheese.
  6. Repeat layering with remaining tortillas and cheese.
  7. Transfer skillet to oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Top with sour cream, avocado, and cilantro if desired.

Notes

Customize this dish by adding beans, corn, or jalapeños. Prep it ahead and bake later for convenience. Use freshly shredded cheese for best melt.
