Ingredients

Green Bean Base
  • 1 lb fresh green beans washed and trimmed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Topping
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Mixing Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Wash and trim the green beans. Pat them dry well with a towel so they roast instead of steam.
  3. Place the green beans in a large mixing bowl. Add olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Toss everything together until the beans are evenly coated with the oil and seasoning.
  5. Spread the green beans across the baking sheet in a single layer to allow even roasting.
  6. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes until the beans are tender and lightly crisped on the edges.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the beans.
  8. Return to the oven for about 2 minutes until the cheese melts slightly. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra crisp green beans, make sure the pan is not crowded. A squeeze of lemon juice or a pinch of red pepper flakes can add extra brightness and heat. Pecorino cheese can be used instead of parmesan for a stronger flavor.
