Ingredients

Beef Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Assembly
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough 8 count
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Baking Dish

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and no pink remains. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in ketchup, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until combined. Remove from heat.
  4. Cut each biscuit into four pieces and flatten slightly in your hand.
  5. Spoon a small amount of beef mixture onto each piece, sprinkle with cheese, and wrap the dough around the filling to seal.
  6. Arrange the stuffed pieces in the prepared baking dish close together. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Add diced pickles or cooked bacon bits for extra flavor. You can prepare the beef mixture a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to assemble. For best texture, bake with fresh biscuit dough rather than freezing the assembled dish.
